Avoid tech support scammers!

Tech support phone scams are a few years old, but still fairly common. If someone calls you claiming to be from Microsoft (or some other tech company) wanting to connect to your computer to fix something, hang up. If you have been duped, call your credit card company and dispute the charges as soon as you can. You should also have someone reputable remove any software they installed and do a full scan for any viruses or backdoor which the scammers may have loaded on your computer. I’d also recommend you file a complaint using the FTC’s form (link available in the Microsoft page below). Microsoft will never call you directly unless you have a support request open with them, and they are very unlikely to ever remotely fix anything for you.

Please share – it could help someone you know!
